La cultura y el arte son algunas de las herramientas más amplias en la expresión creativa y al mismo tiempo de las más individuales en su manifestación.
Costa Rica vive un proceso de cambio trascendental, donde día a día se cuestionan las estructuras fundamentales de nuestra sociedad, por eso como artista me resulta impostergable presentar esta propuesta artística que como "práctica social" muestra la fibra cotidiana de los más vulnerables, las adolescentes madres en alto riesgo social.
Desde 1998, con mi exposición "Sobre la esperanza", he desarrollado investigaciones y proyectos con adolescentes. Al pasar de los años, sigo pensando que es imperante acompañar a este grupo etario en una sociedad donde se tiende a borrar la individualidad para conglomerar los ciudadanos en masas que pierden sus raíces identitarias, sus valores y su esencia.
La problemática social de las "adolescentes madres en alto riesgo social", me ha tomado dos años y medio de investigación. Es una herida abierta en la sociedad humana, con ella en protagonistas a convertirse en las mujeres más pobres del planeta.
Mi objetivo en este proyecto ha sido mostrar el tema del embarazo adolescente en Costa Rica desde la perspectiva de ellas, las adolescentes madres en alto riesgo social para colaborar en la lucha contra la violencia hacia niñas y jóvenes adolescentes, y a la vez poder contribuir a su empoderamiento dándoles voz a través de la creatividad, el arte y su interés vocacional.
Fue un proceso lento, de mucha gestión institucional, hasta que conté con espacios donde desarrollar los talleres. El parque La Libertad en Desamparados y el Centro Saint-Exupery de Fundamentes, en pueblo nuevo de Pavas, dos instituciones que reciben este tipo de población y que estuvieron dispuestas a colaborar con mi proyecto, gracias a la gestión del Ministerio de Justicia, el Centro Cívico por la Paz de Heredia, me cedió el espacio físico y así pude aprovechar la valiosa colaboración de la oficina del PANI en Heredia Sur que facilitó el reunir suficientes adolescentes madres dispuestas a participar en mis talleres en el centro cívico por la paz de Heredia.
Una vez logrado el círculo de confianza en cada comunidad y contando siempre con el apoyo de los y las psicólogas encargadas, tanto en el PANI como de dos de los centrosdonde desarrollamos el proyecto, se empezaron a ver resultados muy positivos por parte de las participantes, incluso algunos hermanos menores y hasta compañeros de ellas se acercaron a los talleres.
El montaje instalativo que hoy presento, es el producto de muchos procesos creativos y pretende ser la voz de las adolescentes madres, a través de sus trabajos y sus historias, mostradas desde su punto de vista es un espejo de la realidad y dificultades que viven las adolescentes madres en alto riesgo social de nuestro país. Ellas se muestran frágiles, sin esperanza o fuertes y luchadoras…sin embargo su futuro está lleno de incertidumbre.

Costa Rica lives a process of transcendentalchange, where the fundamental structures of our society are questioned everyday, so as an artist it is imperative to present this artistic proposal that asa "social practice" shows the daily fiber of the most vulnerable,adolescent girls Mothers at high social risk.
Since 1998, with my exhibition "Onhope", I have developed research and projects with teenagers. Over theyears, I still think that it is imperative to accompany this age group in a societytends to erase individuality to conglomerate mass citizens who lose theiridentity roots, their values and their essence.
The social problems of "teenage mothers athigh social risk" have taken me two and a half years of research. It is anopen wound in human society, with it the protagonists of becoming the poorestwomen on the planet.
My goal in this project has been to show theissue of teenage pregnancy in Costa Rica from their perspective, teenagemothers at high social risk.
My objective in this project has been to showthe issue of teenage pregnancy in Costa Rica from their perspective, adolescentmothers at high social risk to collaborate in the fight against violencetowards girls and young adolescents, and at the same time to contribute totheir empowerment giving them a voice through creativity, art and theirvocational interest.
It was a slow process, with a lot ofinstitutional management, until I had spaces to develop the workshops. LaLibertad park in Desamparados and the Saint-Exupery Center of Fundamentes, inthe new village of Pavas, two institutions that receive this type of populationand were willing to collaborate with my project, thanks to the management ofthe Ministry of Justice, the Civic Center For the Peace of Heredia, I was giventhe physical space and thus I was able to take advantage of the valuablecollaboration of the PANI office in South Heredia that facilitated thegathering of enough teenage mothers willing to participate in my workshops inthe civic center for the peace of Heredia.
Once the circle of trust in each community wasachieved and always with the support of the psychologists in charge, both inthe PANI and in two of the centers where we developed the project, they beganto see very positive results from the participants, even some younger brothersand even their classmates approached the workshops.
The installation that I present today is theproduct of many creative processes and aims to be the voice of teenage mothers,through their work and their stories, shown from their point of view is amirror of the reality and difficulties experienced by teenage mothers at highsocial risk in our country. They are fragile, hopeless or strong and struggling... however their future is full of uncertainty.

Teenage mothers often do not think about the possibility of giving their baby up for adoption, but there are cases, where they, already with other children, are forced to ask for help and thus seek a healthy and safe alternative to seek a better future for your son.
