El Trabajo Comunal Universitario “Arte y Género en la Sociedad Patriarcal”, realizado en conjunto con SIFAIS (Sistema de Formación Artística e Integración Social) y estudiantes de la Universidad Veritas durante 2018, propone reflexionar y sensibilizar, a través de actividades recreativas y artísticas, sobre la categoría de género con el propósito de mejorar los vínculos comunitarios y el arraigo local, así como también para mejorar la calidad de vida de las comunidades en una sociedad igualitaria, libre de violencia y de discriminación racial y de género. Se busca pues, detectar y problematizar la gran cantidad de hábitos y prácticas cotidianas de agresiones que van conformando el caldo de cultivo que nos lleva como sociedad a normalizar la violencia de género.
A través del TCU se busca crear conciencia acerca del valor de las mujeres en la sociedad. Esta es una iniciativa del Museo de las Mujeres que, junto con lxs estudiantes de Universidad Veritas en sus diversas disciplinas: fotografía, cine y TV, animación, arquitectura, diseño gráfico, diseño del espacio interior, publicidad y diseño de modas. La finalidad es poder acercar a lxs estudiantes de la universidad con la comunidad de La Carpio, generando interacciones y aprendizajes que resulten fructíferos para ambas partes.

The University Community Work "Art and Gender in the Patriarchal Society", carried out in conjunction with SIFAIS and students of the Veritas University during 2018, proposes to reflect and sensitize, through recreational and artistic activities, on the gender category with the purpose of improve local ties and roots, as well as to improve the quality of life of communities in an egalitarian society, free from violence and racial and gender discrimination. The aim is therefore to detect and problematize the large number of daily habits and practices of aggression that are shaping the breeding ground that leads us as a society to normalize gender violence. Through the TCU, we seek to create awareness about the value of women in society. This is an initiative of the Women's Museum that, together with the students of the Veritas University, is put to work in its various disciplines: photography, film and TV, animation, architecture, graphic design, interior space design, advertising and design trending. The aim is to be able to bring the students of the university closer to the community of La Carpio, generating interactions and learning that are fruitful for both parties.

El Taller de Fotografía Pinhole es dictado en la sede del SIFAIS, ubicado en La Carpio a un grupo de 8 jóvenes. Duración: una sesión dividida en 4 horas en la mañana y 3 horas en la tarde.El taller consta de una sesión en la que se abre de manera dinámica con una introducción a la fotografía, a la historia de la foto y las diferentes cámaras antiguas que hoy día se siguen usando y que podemos construir. Continúa con una explicación de los elementos y el funcionamiento de la cámara estenopeica que es la base de la fotografía pinhole. A los jóvenes se les guiará en el proceso de construcción de su propia cámara pinhole, hecha con materiales de uso frecuente y reciclable. Se explica además cómo se puede contar una historia en imágenes para continuar con la toma de las fotografías dentro del SIFAIS usando objetos, juguetes o personas de manera que los jóvenes puedan crear una historia corta que puedan fotografiar y revelar con la ayuda de los facilitadores de taller.
The Pinhole Photography Workshop is held at the SIFAIS headquarters, located in La Carpio, for a group of 8 young people. Duration: a session divided into 4 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon.The workshop consists of a session in which it opens dynamically with an introduction to photography, the history of the photo and the different old cameras that are still used today and that we can build. It continues with an explanation of the elements and the operation of the pinhole camera that is the basis of pinhole photography. Young people will be guided in the process of building their own pinhole camera, made with frequently used and recyclable materials. It also explains how a story can be told in images to continue taking photographs within SIFAIS using objects, toys or people so that young people can create a short story that they can photograph and reveal with the help of the facilitators of workshop.

El Taller de Diario Visual es dictado en la sede del SIFAIS, ubicado en La Carpio a un grupo 10 mujeres. Duración: dos sesiones, divididas en dos días. 4 horas en la mañana y 3 horas en la tarde.La dinámica del curso consiste en hacer una introducción a la fotografía y a los conceptos básicos de la imagen para proseguir con una explicación de porqué la fotografía es un importante método de registro. De esta manera se introducen en la dinámica del Diario Visual, registro de la vida diaria, cómo funciona y referentes de trabajos de este estilo internacionales y nacionales.Seguidamente como la herramienta con la que se va a trabajar es el teléfono móvil, se hace una introducción a la fotografía con celulares y a las herramientas que pueden usarse para la toma de imágenes. Este proceso va acompañado de dinámicas de grupo y un ejercicio corto de toma de imágenes en pareja.La segunda parte del taller se basa en la discusión de las imágenes que las participantes tomaron y en su experiencia, partiendo de allí se prosigue con la narración de historia en imágenes y procesos de edición en grupo para seleccionar las imágenes que en conjunto formen una narrativa de la exposición fotográfica.
Creative Workshop. Visual Diary

The Visual Journal Workshop is held at the SIFAIS headquarters, located in La Carpio, for a group of 10 women. Duration: two sessions, divided into two days. 4 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon. The dynamics of the course consists of making an introduction to photography and the basic concepts of image to continue with an explanation of why photography is an important method of recording. El Trabajo Comunal Universitario "Arte y mujeres en la sociedad patriarcal", realizado en la Universidad de Costa Rica, propone problematizar la categoría de género, la cual está íntimamente ligada con las categorías de clase y de “raza”, para que, partiendo del análisis de diferentes expresiones artísticas, se procure deconstruir las nociones de feminidad, masculinidad y transgeneridad, orientado al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de las comunidades en una sociedad igualitaria, libre de violencia y de discriminación racial y de género.

TALLER DE GENERO EN SIFAIS
La perspectiva artística sobre estos asuntos de tanto valor es fundamental, pues es un método que permite variadas visiones, que no procura establecer una manera de pensar particular, sino que el gran mérito es crear criterios propios.
Agradecemos la oportunidad de poder desempeñar esta tarea al Sistema Integral de Formación Artística para la Inclusión Social, cuyo principio de trabajo consideramos realmente valioso para la comunidad y para los jóvenes a quienes hemos podido conocer y apreciar por su esfuerzo y opiniones, que hacen que nuestra labor sea de verdad provechosa.
Su compromiso con los talleres que hemos desarrollado ha sido reconfortante y, espero, de gran provecho para ellos, pues lo ha sido para nosotros.
GENDER WORKSHOP IN SIFAIS
The artistic perspective on these matters of such value is fundamental, since it is a method that allows various visions, which does not attempt to establish a particular way of thinking, but the great merit is to create your own criteria. We appreciate the opportunity to carry out this task to the Comprehensive Artistic Training System for Social Inclusion, whose work principle we consider really valuable for the community and for the young people whom we have been able to know and appreciate for their effort and opinions, which make our work is truly profitable. Nuestra experiencia como equipo en este trabajo, basado en una serie de talleres de valoración y práctica artística, nos ha permitido aprender sobre las opiniones de la juventud actual sobre los roles de género en Costa Rica y el mundo.

The University Communal Work Art and Women in the Patriarchal Society is a proposal that seeks to penetrate the consciousness of various social groups in favor of the value of women in society. Preadolescentes y adolescentes en San Pedro y La Carpio reflexionan sobre la violencia contra las mujeres, por medio de talleres que combinan el arte y la sensibilización en temas de género, como parte del proyecto Trabajo Comunal Universitario (TCU) TC-644 “Arte y mujeres en la sociedad patriarcal” de la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR). La vinculación con las y los jóvenes en San Pedro se llevó a cabo a través de colegios públicos, como el Liceo José Joaquín Vargas Calvo y el Liceo Anastasio Alfaro. En La Carpio, por medio de la organización no gubernamental Sifais. La Dra. Claudia Mandel Katz, coordinadora del TCU, comenta que trabajan con estos grupos porque “la población adolescente está en una posición de fragilidad y riesgo; es muy necesario rescatar su posicionamiento y opinión. Además del tema de la formación en valores, derechos y equidad de género”.Durante los talleres, se han trabajado los conceptos de género, patriarcado y tipos de violencia, así como la imagen de la mujer en medios de comunicación y las implicaciones que pueden tener estos elementos en el entorno de los y las jóvenes. Los estudiantes del TC-644 han tenido que buscar las maneras más apropiadas para promover el aprendizaje en el tema. En el caso de Alejandra Madrigal Córdoba, estudiante de Filología Española, ha disfrutado de generar procesos de comunicación en los cuales los jóvenes “puedan construir sus propios pensamientos y experiencias”. Para finalizar el taller que ella y sus compañeros facilitaron, los y las estudiantes de colegio crearon un producto artístico basándose en la técnica de collage, en el que se vieron reflejados temas como las metas profesionales, la maternidad no obligada, la paternidad, la belleza, la libertad y las relaciones de pareja.
La estudiante de sétimo año Mariela Acosta Quesada, participante del taller, comentó: “Yo aprendí demasiado. Nos enseñan de otra forma, con la creatividad, para hacernos entender y pensar cómo esas cosas nos pueden afectar”. La pertinencia de la temática es evidente. Según datos de la encuesta “Percepciones sobre la violencia contra las mujeres”, realizada por investigadores de la Universidad de Costa Rica y la Universidad Nacional en el año 2013, un 42% de los y las costarricenses conoce algún caso de violencia contra mujeres en el que éstas son acosadas, humilladas, insultadas, agredidas, limitadas en áreas como estudio o trabajo, entre otros. Sin embargo, el silencio permanece sobre la denuncia. En el marco del Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer (25 de noviembre), declarado por Naciones Unidas, la prevención y la discusión del tema son herramientas importantes en la búsqueda de soluciones a una problemática que, según este organismo, se da como consecuencia de la discriminación que sufren las mujeres en la vida cotidiana, tanto por un sistema legal que lo permite como por las desigualdades que aún existen entre hombres y mujeres.
